This weeks post is another one of my amazing brilliant schemes to make the world a better place.
It's fool proof and the only thing stopping it from happening and making this world of ours a little bit more bareable is you.
Don't let me down.
We can do this.
This week I have mainly been thinking about language and how it winds everybody up.
From spelling mistakes to the use of new words and phrases, it seems that everybody who has access to the internet is annoyed at the next perosn because they spelt something wrong or used an incorrect syntax.
I can't help everyone, not yet at least, but one area that I think there is a solution is that of plurals.
Put simply, there is no use for them.
I don't think there is any need to be adding S's to everything just becuase you are trying to describe more than one of something.
Let me give you an example.
Cows.
In a field there are some animals.
You point one out to your companion.
"Oh look, there is a cow." You say.
It is obvious that you are talking about a singluar beast because you have used the preface 'a'.
that is simple enough.
But what if there is more than one?
In that case you might say "Oh look, there are some Cows."
In this scenario you have replaced the 'a' with an extra 's' on the end. but this is just doubling up on matters.
By not using the 'a' is there any need to add the 's' on the end?
I think not.
It would make just as much sense to say "Oh look, there are some cow."
At no point is the number required, just that there are more than one.
This could work for many differnet things like, kettle, elephant, spider, shoe, book, dog, battery.... well the list goes on.
It already works for sheep and nobody gets their knickers in a twist over that do they?
So let's just all agree to not use plurals any more and get on with it, okay?
At the very least you will get one extra character in every tweet and that can't be a bad thing can it!
As always, you are all very welcome.
You are trying to mess with my mind again I mean the English language has enough issues already that I dont understand. Although in theory it sounds great I just know what would happen is some silly rule
Like there is no S after cow unless there is a dog in the field. And a field with a single animal and lots of other animals means that you need to use the S. And if S follows I E then its OK unless its a word starting in F then S should not be used except with reference to camels. Because a camel can only ever be a single camel.
No I plan to leave everything as it is
